NCAA considering non-NFL stadiums to host champ weekend

In an effort to increase attendance at the NCAA Championship Weekend, the organization is considering a broader choice of venues. Currently, the host venues rotate between Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (the location of this past seasons tournament), Gillette Stadium and M&T Bank Stadium in Foxborough, MA (M&T Bank will host the 2014 Championship Weekend).

The NCAA is considering opening their options to non-NFL venues, such as stadiums on college campuses. University of Maryland has expressed interest in hosting from 2015-2018, and the Naval Academy's name has also been thrown into the hat. However, there is hesitance to choose a collegiate campus due to concern that it is a lesser "travel destination."

While NCAA Championship Weekend could be the biggest weekend of the year for the sport of lacrosse, it boils down to one university against another, so why not host it at a college campus? It would be a different atmosphere, but it could be viewed as a positive change!
